About our logo (The Lotus Blossom)
Though we are non-sectarian and value global beliefs & cultures, we chose a symbol from the East. Asia is known for its reverence towards the lotus flower. The lotus is often used as a metaphor for the beauty that can be found among the most dirty waters.Though the environment that poverty breeds in is often associated with uncleanliness, there are many beautiful souls that thrive among these conditions. The lotus represents this inner beauty. We at the Ananda Foundation feel that the Lotus symbolizes hope and that people who live in poverty deserve a chance at life and if given the proper tools for development can continue to blossom.
