Human Promotion and Nonformal Education among Poor Communities

In collaboration with the NGO Sarbik Manab Unnayan Sangathan (SMUS) in Barisal, this program focuses on nontraditional methods of learning as a tool for personal development and community empowerment. This project is multi-focused and is designed to assist an estimated 800 poor villagers to develop their full potential through skills development, knowledge, and application. The project focuses on both rural and urban populations in developing a sustainable lifestyle for themselves and their families. Through micro-credit loans and training landless villagers will be able to have a chance to work in a specialization of their choosing. Trainings being offered may be found below.

This project intends to reach youth and landless women in an effort to increase knowledge about their rights as well as provide guidance on how to navigate the welfare system to seek further help. Additional learning includes classes on human development, sanitation, health education, and nutrition. Vulnerable populations targeted by this project include: mothers and single parents, adolescents, fisherman, rickshaw pullers, day labrorers, the landless and marginal poor.
