Hope for Children Organization:

This grant is intended to sponsor the health, nutrition, and educational needs of eighteen children from the impoverished community of Gullele in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Sponsorship will provide adequate food, housing, medical, clothing and school related expenses for the year. Ananda Foundation has also sponsored an older orphan Zelalem who is studying information technology and struggling to put himself through college and Abel, a blind teenager wanting to pursue education at the institute for the blind in Addis.

Hope for Children organization was founded by Mrs. Yewoinshet Masresha and was established to provide care and support to HIV/AIDS orphans and children living with the virus, and care for those who are in need of such services. As a nongovernmental organization dedicated to helping families and communities, HFC believes that children have a right to education, affection and cultural identity. HFC concentrates in two areas: group homes for children without any family members and outreach to neighboring slum areas to provide services to children affected by HIV. Additionally, outreach programs concentrate on health awareness, how to care for persons with HIV, and counseling during times of grief and loss.
