A History of SCF
Support the Children Foundation (STF) is a non-governmental organization
established on September 2, 1992 to give tender loving care to abandoned children with AIDS and to promote campaigning to stop HIV/AIDS as soon as possible.STF is established in the very beginning of HIV epidemic in Thailand in 1992 when no place wanted to take care of children with AIDS who were abandoned in hospitals. At the time there was no antiretroviral drug available for these children.
The concept at the time was to take care of abandoned children with AIDS to have a family type of living, to have a good quality of life before dying from AIDS. We have 4 houses at various locations in Chiang Mai city to take care of 24 infants with AIDS. Only 6 infants stay in each house. The reason is if it is too crowded, the infants will too often get severe infection because of their low immunity. We took them out for sightseeing, swimming, shopping just like our own children.
