This family is comprised of 5 people - husband, wife and three sons (Charneera, Manura and Thisara) and they have lived in Unawatuna all their lives.

Before the disaster, the father, Wijewardana, worked as a seller of fish. He would buy fish from the boats and take the fish by bicycle around Unawatuna and neighboring areas to sell. He lost his bicycle in the disaster, and the family house, while parts are still standing, is uninhabitable and will have to be totally rebuilt. The house is situated close to Imesh Restaurant on the beachfront. All the family's other possessions were lost.

Before December 26, one of the sons worked in a bookshop in Matara, and another had a job in a restaurant in Unawatuna. Now everyone is unemployed and the family is destitute.
