The family consists of both parents and a son and two daughters. During the tsunami one of the daughters died. The father was a cook at a local resort in Unawatuna.

Thrown by a wave, a boat crashed into the house

Fortunately, the house was not swept away by the tsunami but sustained damage, both outside and inside. There is extensive work that needs to be done on the house to make it livable again.
