Project Title: Seeds & Fertilizer for M'chenga Community for Families Affected by HIV & AIDS
Project Summary: This project provides seeds, fertilizer, and gardening tools for 22 villages of the M'chenga community based organization (CBO). The CBO is planning on sowing 20 acres of maize. The beneficiaries include: Orphan and vulnerable Children, Chronically sick people, people living with HIV and AIDS and old people who are unable to work themselves.
Project Goal: To reduce food shortage and raise economic status of HIV infected and affected households.
Project Objectives:
Food will be distributed to 450 orphans and vulnerable children who attend the community based childcare center.
Food will be distributed locally to 35 households and families affected and infected by HIV.
550 bags of Maize will be kept to reduce food shortage in the catchment area of M'chenga. This will help the children, chronically ill patients. Some of the surplus bags of maize will be sold to raise funds for the school needs for the school going children and also to start the construction of a shelter and office for M'chenga CBO.
