Our History
Ananda Foundation was founded in 1993 by Adeline Kanowitz at the age of eighty-seven. Adeline loved to travel. Her visits to foreign countries gave her an awareness which fostered a deep concern and compassion for the welfare of the poor, especially children.
The first project of Ananda Foundation was a mobile clinic in India which provided basic medical care to rural villages. Since 2002, Ananda Foundation has funded grassroots and community based projects for women, children, and communities in fourteen countries.
Adeline’s legacy continues through her daughter and granddaughter. We believe her spirit lives on through the lives of people given hope.
